Seasons of Hamilton Pool Photograher Kelley Swinney Email: Texasimages1@sbcglobal.net I first visited

I first visited Hamilton Pool in the late 70's. People were jumping off the top of the 50 ft. waterfall. Skinny dipping was ok in those days. It was part of the Reimer Ranch then. Over the years I have returned to swim and walk along the creek that flows into the Pedernales River about a mile from the Pool. I've been taking photos of the pool for the last 4 years. I've noticed how the landscape has been influenced by many factors, temperature, rain, drought, and the changing of seasons. Even the rocks change color with the seasons.

The shades of green in the pool change from a teal green in winter after a big rain to a jade green in more normal times: the waterfall from a torrent to a trickle in a drought. Springs flowing though the layers of limestone feed the ferns and plants inside the grotto at all times. Now the quality of the water that drops into the pool is threatened by massive housing development above the creek. On my last two visits the water was a milky green and no swimming was permitted. These photos are to be the basis of a Photography book to be published next year.

I hope you enjoy the photography.
